Calcinosis cutis occurs with deposition of insoluble calcium and phosphorus salts
in the subcutaneous tissue. It can be idiopathic or secondary to metabolic or autoimmune
disorders. Treatment usually involves excision or destruction of the lesion with electrodessication
or CO2 laser. Recurrence is uncommon.
