The purpose of this video is to provide a step-by-step process for creating a model
for ovarian cystectomy with a realistic ovary with a dermoid within that is made with
biological materials. This can be used in residency and fellowship programs for teaching
residents and fellows in real time the process of laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy.
This model allows the use of laparoscopic instruments with unipolar and bipolar energy.
It closely mimics the actual structures of the pelvic sidewall and adnexa with the
ovary suspended in space. The model allows also simulation of ovarian torsion, laparoscopic
suturing and closure of the ovary and the ability to practice oophoropexy.
