      Pediatric and adolescent gynecology (PAG) is an evolving subspecialty and is growing as a scientific discipline.

      Pediatric and adolescent gynecology: where is the science?.
      The types of studies submitted to the Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (JPAG) have slightly changed over the years. Still, the most commonly published type of article is the case report, followed by the review. Newer are multicenter studies, observational cohorts, systematic reviews, clinical trials, and randomized controlled trials.

      Pediatric and adolescent gynecology: where is the science?.
      PAG is a broad field, and the different areas of focus have different study designs. Rare cases are suitable for case reports or small cohort studies, and more public health topics such as contraception are more suitable for national health registries. Randomized controlled designs are less often used for various reasons. Therefore, the study designs are inherent to the populations in which the research is conducted.
